David grew up and graduated from high school in Florien, Louisiana. He attended Panola College and East Texas Baptist College on a basketball scholarship and earned a baccalaureate degree in secondary education with a double major in English and history. In 1978, David became the principal of Converse High School, a 500-student K-12 campus. At age 25, he was the youngest principal in Louisiana during the 1978-79 school year.After earning a doctorate degree in secondary education administration, David became superintendent of High Island ISD, a 300-student K-12 district in Galveston County, in 1987. During the next 17 years he would serve as superintendent of High Island ISD for two years; Mt. Pleasant ISD for six years; Texas City ISD for three and one-half years; and McKinney ISD for five and one-half years. Being selected superintendent of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in 2004 was the high point of the 37-year professional career in public education for David Anthony. Cy-Fair ISD grew from 78,000 to 106,000 students during the seven years David served as superintendent. Even though CFISD was the fastest growing and third largest district in Texas, trailing only Houston ISD and Dallas ISD, it was the largest district to earn a Recognized academic ranking for four consecutive years 2007-2011.Anthony served as the CEO of Raise Your Hand Texas from July 2011 until April 1, 2016. He is still engaged in supporting and improving public education as a consultant focusing on leadership development and school/district improvement strategies.On another very important note, he and Janie have been married for 44 years and have two sons and daughters-in-law, Derek, Ashley, Jared, Sarah and five grandchildren (Caroline, Amelia, Oliver, Elie and Gordon).
