How to Boost Relevance While Keeping PD Aligned to Strategic Goals
The key to a quality organization is quality people. To improve the quality of an organization, you must attend to the people who lead it. When organizations plan professional development with the “Why” in mind, all team members benefit in clarity and alignment.

This interactive session helps leaders understand that providing relevance in professional development is critical to an organization’s success. By engaging in the story of a district’s focus on listening to the voice of the customer and creating a crystal-clear strategy, district and campus leaders will be encouraged to focus on the “Why” and take away innovative ideas which result in alignment and achievement of strategic goals.

Leveraging Change Management to Improve Campus Culture and Staff Morale
Implementing new initiatives has the potential to empower staff and improve morale, or demoralize staff and damage campus culture. How can an instructional leadership team leverage the implementation of new initiatives to improve campus culture and staff morale? Our instructional leadership team, composed of administrators, instructional partners, and educational technologists, will share our approach to implementing new initiatives in a way that promotes a positive campus culture and improves staff morale while improving learning experiences for students and teachers. This approach combines a practical combination of management, leadership, and interpersonal skills along with collaboration. It also relies on four main components important in change management: (1) trusting individual professionalism, (2) honoring what individuals already do and building on those strengths, (3) long-term planning rooted in the idea of patience and persistence, and (4) differentiating implementation goals and timelines to meet the unique needs of each staff member. By applying these components consistently, instructional leadership teams can simultaneously implement district and campus initiatives while improving campus culture, staff morale, and learning experiences.
